Add the lawmakers of Hennepin County, Minnesota to the list of those currently waging an outright war on tobacco. The Hennepin County Board has approved a ban which would prohibit smoking on all county-owned property, even if a person is sitting in their own car in a county lot.
This means law-abiding citizens of this area could be fined, or worse, for simply lighting up a cigar or cigarette while waiting for a friend or loved one to complete business inside a county building, such as the DMV.
The ban does not, however, govern a “special area” in the county’s psychiatric ward. Could this be where Hennepin County’s government elite go to enjoy a nice stogie while dreaming up other ways to make the lives of their citizens miserable?!
Nearly 1.16 million people live in Hennepin County, which includes the city of Minneapolis.
