In this age where the (still legal!) activity of enjoying tobacco is seemingly under attack from every side, it’s nice to hear some ‘good news’ for a change.
A New York judge has reversed a ban enacted last year by the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation, which made it illegal to smoke in any of New York’s 178 public parks. Park workers must also now remove any ‘no-smoking ‘ signs that were put up as part of the ban.
The ruling does not change the New York City smoking ban, which remains in effect. State officials say they may appeal the judge’s decision.
