Some cigar enthusiasts are praising President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). Congressman and surgeon Tom Price (R., GA) twice co-sponsored legislation that would have kept cigars exempt from new rules that some say will cripple the industry.
In May, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) introduced sweeping regulations for cigars. Critics of the move say it will cost small business thousands in fees. If confirmed, Price would have the power to block implementation of the plan.
