Residents of the Canadian city of Regina, Saskatchewan are weighing in on public smoking. At issue is a proposed ban on outdoor smoking — including on patios or outdoor restaurant seating areas. Two public forums have already been held: one for business owners and one for the general public.
“We think businesses have a different aspect that they will be discussing, and what will impact their business,” said Steve Bagley, Deputy Chief of Regina Fire and Protective Services.
Along with Winnipeg, Regina is one of only two major Canadian cities that still allow outdoor smoking in public places. City officials are expected to make their final decision in the coming weeks.
